The Ancient Pyramids

The Ancient Pyramids also known as The Pyramid Ruins are six pyramids located in Earthsandia on the southern peninsula. The 4th pyramid was explored by Confiere during Session 8 which resulted in them finding The Earth Remembrance and defeating The 4th King an undying mummy.

History

The Ancient Pyramids were monuments erected in 1100 B.C.. by a fierce and strong Warlord, controlling almost all of what is known as Earthsandia today. Their function doubled as housing and as a way to search for Moneru and Suneru. The Warlords' idea was to burrow deep beneath the sand; maybe that's where they were. The Pyramids failed in locating the gods but would later serve as the homes to The Warlord's six children. After their father's passing, the six children fought over power, and in the end, the 4th one, The 4th King, was victorious. He decided to hide away with all of his people in the pyramids since the chances of war were rising. He would not make the retreat final until half a decade after the end of The Donstropian Masace. The Donstropians within The Ancient Pyramids had yet to be found by Fonos people. Out of sheer stress and trying to preserve his people The 4th King used The Earth Remembrance to completely seal off The Pyramids from the rest of the world, 53 A.C. Most donstropians would stay in the pyramids and wither away. Too much exposure to pure sand magic would rough away most skin and some donstropians were reduced to mere bones. Yet The 4th King's affinity for Time Magic would not let him or many of the others die. Instead, they all slowly rotted away and became skeletons, ghouls, and mummies. Some would however escape, through the water channel tunnels who run under Earthsandia.

An old tale

The following is an old tale told by an old man (working for The Sand Rebels) who met Confiere outside of the pyramids.

The pyramid that stands before you is rotten to the core, although it is not visible on the surface, this pyramid as well as this country is rotten. Nothing beautiful or honorable rests in this land, nothing can be built on lies, death, and betrayal. What graces this land is said to have originated many thousands of years ago. During this time 6 kings or should I say 6 brothers ruled. All were sons of a powerful warlord who had seized the land. The brothers could trust no one but those of their own blood. To protect power, they resorted to violence and killed everyone who dared to oppose the power. But no one could stop them and soon there was no one who dared to stand against them. The brothers never stopped torturing their people and even though the killing no longer had a reason, they continued. The killing had taken over their lives and neither of them saw any point in stopping, instead it only got worse. Instead of killing men for their ideologies or actions, they executed people for the thrill. The first-born son carried out a hideous but extremely elaborate execution, he chained the prisoners and then let them be eaten alive by the beasts. The second, fifth and sixth sons were disgusted by this. They appreciated a quick and efficient execution. It attached its captives to weights and then hurled them down the walls to their deaths by being crushed against the hot sand. The third son found peace from the most painful scream and therefore let his captives be tortured for a long time until his death. He himself is said to have designed many of today's tools of torture, one of which involved locking the prisoners in a giant nail room to slowly allow the blunt nails to impale them alive. But the fourth son did not see the point of it all. He had already spilled enough blood for several lifetimes… but even he must have sensed that the worst was yet to come. It was the fourth son who killed his brothers and took the crown and power over the country.
